The aim is to obtain a better understanding of the phenomenon responsible for abrasion corrosion so as to facilitate selection of steel grades suited to service conditions, thereby increasing the life of installations. The interdependence of abrasion and corrosion mechanisms will be defined as a function of operating parameters: hydrodynamic conditions, impact frequency, type geometry and energy of abrasive particles and type of carrier fluid.
