Gene transfer via the androgenic pathway in barley

Cel

The technologies to be applied in this project will be state-of-the-art methods, widely applicable to a broad range of modern biotechnological problems. The molecular skills involved could also be applied further to non-plant systems. The potential for the transfer and uptake of technology is a key area of this proposed programme. Impact for Applicant: The multi-disciplinary Unit of the host, with a cell-to-field remit, and also an excellent record for training and development of young researcher, will provide a conducive and stimulating environment where the candidate can apply existing skills and be trained in novel skills of wide utility. Impact for Host: The principal impacts will be to boost an already active research group and enhance and enable the existing skill base and develop technologies of wide potential applicability. Additionally, the overall profile of the group will be considerably enhanced by the award, and will add to the remit of providing access to an internationally recognised centre for further training in the future.
