Obiettivo

Using a directed evolution approach, the activities of two structurally similar enzymes, alkaline phosphates and arylsulfatase, will be evolved into each other. The detailed mechanistic characterisation of the new enzymes will address questions about the initial stages of an evolutionary process and the nature of catalysis.
