Objective The total amount of time necessary for putting strip into tandem cold rolling mills and running it out is roughly as long as the actual time taken for the strip to travel from the first to the last stand. The aim of this project is to reduce the setting-up and adjustment times through the adoption of fully automatic inputting and running out. For that, a model will be developed that can be used in on-line operation on all stands in the tandem cold rolling mill. The model will take account of the roll force, hot strip thickness, hot strip profile, strip width, working roll temperature, roll surface and roll bending.
