Interoperable collaborative process management

Objective

InterPROM enables European SMEs to acquire long-ranging outsourcing projects advertised by largecompanies and to carry these projects effectively and profitable out according to the given quality standards.Following a research report conducted by KPMG across 164 large European companies only 15 percent of suchlong-ranging projects are completed in time while the majority of projects is cancelled, consequently drawing aloss of approximately EUR 41 billion. The SME-partners of the InterPROM project have already identified the bigger part of the weak points and aim atdeveloping a platform for the co-ordination, supervision and execution of projects and processes (e.g.development projects or distributed manufacturing projects) between large companies and SMEsPAVONE - itself being a typical European SME software company - attempted to enter the market foroutsourcing projects due to the ever harder nascent environment for SME software companies. Unsuccessfullydetecting a suitable solution to meet the requirements of the large companies the InterPROM idea was born:InterPROMs main innovation consists in preventing, bridging and avoiding communication and media breaksbetween large companies and SMEs through the elimination of incompatibilities between different systems andthe bundling of the information contained herein. To realise this goal the SMEs complemented the consortium with three internationally renowned RTDs, onedesignated project management specialist, one Europe-wide operating sales expert and EADS as pilot user. The purpose of the consortium is InterPROMs sustainable establishment as the standard product for theallocation and execution of projects between large companies and SMEs within the European market. Accordingto figures from Gartner, Frost and the Carnegie Mellon University the consortium measured the market for asolution like InterPROM about EUR 1,6 billion.
