Objetivo The aim is to develop novel technologies and systems which overcome the problem of colour dye transfer from fabrics to below the surface finish of leather upholstery during normal use. The objectives are to:-Identify the mechanisms which facilitate the transfer of colour dry/ soiling to leather upholstery;-Assess the suitability of applying alternatives to the standard coating technology systems that are currently employed for leather upholstery;-Develop a realistic test specification and European Standard for leathers used as furniture upholstering materials;-Reduce manufacturer returns and increase competitiveness within the SME dominated furniture industry.
