Objective I will get familiar with the field of chromatin structure and learn new techniques related to this domain. Of special interest for me are acetylation assays for proteins and peptides, handling of high molecular weight protein complexes and the recently developed technique of chromatin immune precipitation. The theoretical as well as the technical knowledge base in the area of chromatin structure and its influence on gene regulation are highly developed in the host laboratory. This environment will allow me to participate in the elucidation of the molecular aspects of cell cycle regulation and cancer development. Knowledge of theRB/E2F pathway and of cell cycle control that I obtained during my PhD will be helpful to conduct the project. For the host laboratory evaluation of the function of CBP/p300 in the control of cell proliferation and tumour suppression is an important issue which could lead to new concepts in cancer therapy.
