Use of marine sponge cell culture (primmorphs) as bioreactor for production of bioactive sponge secondary metabolites.

Cel

Modern cell culture (marine invertebrate cell culture) and bio production techniques (bioreactor) will be introduced in marine natural product research. Marine invertebrates will be used as bio factories for the synthesis of natural products with biomedical potential, such as compounds for the synthesis of natural products with biomedical potential, such as compounds possessing anti-cancer and anti-viral activity. This novel approach will also allow producing marine invertebrate secondary metabolites of industrial interest, notably avarol/avarone and aeroplysinin. The candidate will find benefit particularly by learning new techniques of search in molecular biology, biochemistry and cell culture. The development of bioassays on cell cultures shows a direct application in biotechnology. The project will be able to directly make the candidate qualified for a search for a work in University or in a company of biotechnology
