Obiettivo This Network will train young chemists and chemical engineers in clean technology, who will be well placed to promote transfer of knowledge to industry by providing methods for separation, purification, formulation of bioactive ingredients for the development of clean routes for manufacturing speciality chemicals. This is an area where a shortage of trained researchers limits competitiveness of EU Industry. The project will lead to the development of innovative processes for manufacturing products with high added value by exploiting the unique properties of supercritical fluids. It will increase the industrial competitiveness of Europe and will bring major environmental and economic benefits. The Network partners have a long record of collaboration via the EFCE Working Party of High Pressure Chem. Eng. and for many years have organised the Socrates Intensive Course in High Pressure Chem. Eng. The Partners are leaders in the field at world level and are as such a guarantee for the success of the project. The project concept is a focused Network enabling competitive future research, perfectly aligned with the following aspects of the ERA:-the networking of existing centres of excellence in Europe including the Accession States and the creation of virtual centres through the use of new interactive communication tools,-a common approach to the needs and means of financing large research facilities,-a coherent implementation of national and European research activities and closer relations between the organisations of scientific and technological cooperation in Europe,-a better use resources to encourage investment in research and innovation: systems of indirect aid (within the Community rules on State aid), patents, risk capital,-the establishment of a common system of scientific and technical reference for policy implementation,-greater mobility of researchers and introduction of a European dimension to scientific careers.
