Objetivo This project is a further development of the ECSC research project 7210-CA/814 with the same title. In the previous project a pilot plant for the horizontal casting of thin slabs on a mobile mould was built and tested. Two critical problem areas were found, which are now to be looked into more closely: 1. The feeding system will have to be improved. 2. The stresses arising during solidification will have to be investigated and overcome. 3. Surface quality and the solidification structure will have to be improved. The tests will be carried out on 3-4 tonne slabs. Since this project is a continuation of current research work, the Commission proposes that the project should begin on April 1st, 1986.
