Objetivo The project's aim is to undertake large-scale trials of a process already developed on a laboratory scale for the valorisation of slurries derived from blast furnace top gas dusts. For the Duisburg Thyssen works these slurries represent 60,000 t/year, which are currently dumped onto slag-heaps. By successive separation, it is possible to concentrate the C and Fe into two separate fractions which may be reused in the blast furnace or in sintering; a third fraction constitutes Zn and Pb concentrates usable in the non-ferrous metals industry. The project's aim is to build a pilot installation of 120,000 t/year capacity, able to handle, in case of success, the slurries also produced by 2 other "Rheinland" steel-plants.
