Obiettivo The proposal is to support SEVEN students to undertake Research training in Economics at the University of Warwick. Each student will undertake a 3-year programme of coursework and supervisedresearch. The Department of Economics at the University of Warwick is one of the very largest research training centres for Economics in the UK. We have approximately 40 full-time academic teaching staff and around 50 PhD students at any one time. We take on about 12 new PhD students every year. In addition we have a significant number of purely research staff- mostly young research fellows and research assistants attached to specific projects. The Department is part of a large Social Science faculty, whichs also of high quality and we also have strong links with the Warwick Business School and cognate departments such as Mathematics and Psychology outside of the faculty. The department is strongly embedded in a multidisciplinary environment that our students benefit from considerably. The Department has an outstanding international reputation for research in several areas of economics, including microeconomic theory, macroeconomics, industrial economics, labour economics, public economics, applied and theoretical econometrics and economic history. It is one of only four UK economics departments to achieve the maximum 5 rating in the most recent (2001) national Research Assessment Exercise. Only 3 other departments in the UK have thisdistinction. The department offers a number of undergraduate degree programmes, and taught Masters programmes in Economics, Economic Analysis and Policy, and Economics and Finance. It also has a thriving PhD programme with around 50 research students. It was awarded the maximum possible rating of 24/24 in the recent national Q Subject Review (2001). The Times Good University Guide recently ranked the Warwick Economics department No. 2 in the UK.
