Advanced diagnostics of parasitic diseases

Objectif

The project entitled "Advanced diagnostics of Parasitic Diseases" is a transfer of Knowledge, development scheme action. The goal of the project is to implement advanced diagnostic techniques such as: DNA based assays and serological assays in the W. Stefa nski Institute of Parasitology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.The Institute is a unique parasitological establishment which conducts multi- and interdisciplinary research in the field of medical and veterinary parasitology. The objective of the project is to develop a new area of competence in the field of diagnostics and as a result create a Diagnostic Reference Centre cohesive with European policies. This will be achieved through the recruitment of experienced and more experienced researchers which pos ess a high level of expertise in the area of research. The knowledge transfer will be further realised through the secondments of the Institute's experienced researchers to leading parasitological partner organisations in France, Sweden and Italy. Further objectives of the project are connected with the integration of our facility into the European Research Area. They involve the unification of research methods and practices, developing international PhD studies and training of staff in partner finding, est ablishing cooperation as well as writing and managing research projects.The project is envisaged to increase the national and international competitiveness of the Institute, contribute to building European research potential and have a profound, long-lasti ng influence on the scientific developmentof the establishment.
