Objetivo 1. The subject of this STRP is the improvement of Interfaces between Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Ship and their dedicated loading & unloading Terminal infrastructures. Its objective is to offer the European Industry with increased environmental and economical performances of the LNG transfer chain. 2.This project features the following operational targets: - develop and demonstrate an LNG cargo pump enabling a 20 % reduction of its operating time, capable of future extra-large carriers and optimised for Diesel Electric LNG ship; - develop more efficient LNG cargo transfer lines, demonstrating an 80 % improvement of their thermal performances, with improved insulation systems; - develop a new concept of insulation for the LNG cargo tanks, demonstratin g a 20 to 40 % reduction of boil-off-related CO2 emissions during harbour manoeuvres; - demonstrate the feasibility of using Diesel electric LNG carriers as co-generation units providing power and hot water to regaseification terminals. 3.The main operatio nal benefits expected from this Project are: - For Ship Yards and LNG carrier operations: a manufacturing cost reduction of more than to 2M? per ship, and a yearly operational cost reduction of up to 5M?. - For Terminals: a 20% increased capacity within th e same footprint reducing significantly the impact of such infrastructures on coastal areas; reduced boil-off emissions during ship man?uvres and transfer operations; access to a very competitive co-generation source and exploitation of the rega seification cooling power. 4. The project also adds strategic value to the European Industry: It will contribute to a more competitive LNG Supply chain and to strengthen the technological leadership of European Shipyards.
