Objective The aim of this project is to develop steels suitable for use in tidal power systems with special emphasis on the corrosion-erosion resistance of structural and wear-resistant steels to provide design data for life/cost predictions. Lack of reliable design data creates a tendency for designers to specify concrete in preference to steel. Studies will include cathodic protection.
