This research project is aimed at defining process parameters for producing structurally stabilized, high-strength, weldable structural steels as plate or hot strip for use in structural, crane and pipeline applications. This project will attempt to combine the advantages of both continuous casting cooling rates and near net shape thin slab casting by doping a bainite matrix with TiN precipitations, thus producing a steel with greatly improved economic factors in welding performance.
