Objectif The objective of this research is to evaluate steel cleanness on the basis of spark intensity variation during spectrographic analysis and to assess correlation between microscopic and spectrographic measurements performed on representative samples. Current processes require high levels of expertise and are time and operator intensive. Results of this research should provide a rapid means of examining a 100mm x 100mm sample that requires little time or skill in either operation or interpretation.
