Obiettivo CRESCERE is a joint project between EU members and associated candidate countries (Italy, Portugal and Romania,). The proponents are four leading scientific institutes LNF - Frascati, Italy; FCUL - Lisbon, Portugal; LIP- Lisbon, Portugal and IFIN-HH B ucharest, Romania.. The Project will put in operation two remote experiments on cosmic ray detectors, which will be run by European researchers and the general public It is aimed at: bringing together people, and researchers from different countries, promoting and improving an understanding of the role of science and research in modern society, attracting the attention of young people and encouraging them to take up scientific careers, highlighting the EU research community. It is articulated in three coherent actions .During the "Researchers in Europe" three on-line physics experiments will be made operable via the Web.These experiments, which will measure cosmic rays with a modern physics technique, will be remotely controlled and operated b y the interested public (schools, groups, associations and museums). During ten programmed data-taking sessions - scheduled from June to November - participants can manoeuvre the two modern detectors and perform real physics measurements.. During the s essions, it will be possible to control the detector and participate in the chat-line with tutors through Web browsers, without needing any special client software. About 50 simultaneous connections will be possible. Sessions will be held in Italian, P ortuguese, Romanian and/or English as required by the participants. Each session will have a session-leader participant, with the right to remotely act on the detector (schools will be the first choice for this role). The other participants will have access to all other aspects of the session including access to the stored data and analyse them. Tutorial seminars will preceed the data taking sessions.
