Information and Communication Technologies Innovation stimulated by Incubators

Obiettivo

The objective of INCUBATE is to work with young companies in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and to enhance their readiness to participate in emerging and future European RTD activities and programmes. The consortium built up for this purpose is coordinated by inno as the manager of the Network Secretariat of the Gate2Growth Incubator Forum, a pan-European network of technology-based incubators with currently 88 members in 24 countries. The other members of the consortium are incubators from the Incubator Forum network. These incubators contribute to INCUBATE with a large client base of ICT companies and their experience in dealing with innovation projects. A methodology for performing technology audits will be developed, based on proved tools available within the partners of the consortium, and delivered to the staff involved in the project by means of adequate training events designed for that purpose. After having performed 200 technology audits within young companies, the project partners will organise matching events in order to identify potential new RTD proposals. After selection of the most promising potential proposals, the Incubator Forum staff and the incubators will together provide hands-on support to the companies involved in order to generate 25 to 40 new proposals in future European RTD activities and programmes. This phase will also provide incubator managers with a highly valuable training "on the job" opportunity with regards to the development of European RTD proposals. The results and experiences of the project will be made available to the innovation community through a policy document. Moreover, the INCUBATE methodology will become part of the Incubator Forum offer to its members as well as part of the services the incubators involved in the project offer to their clients. INCUBATE will thus reach a good level of sustainability beyond the time span of the European Commission funding.
