Obiettivo This project will determine the feasibility of producing long rolled products of carbon steel clad with stainless steel by hot co-rolling. It involves methods for making composite billets; optimising preheating, co-rolling, on-line cooling and final heat treatments to ensure good adherence and the required final micro-structure; determination of final properties concerning metallurgical bond, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, cutting and welding behaviour; by means of laboratory and plant trials, in combination with stress analysis.
