Fostering alliances for sustainable transport in European research

Objective

FASTER provides a platform of added value services to EU SMEs from the transport sector,in particular maritime, and related business areas. Its consortium consists of organisations with privileged links to EU SMEs and consultancy companies which combine so und expertise in the sectors focus of this project and successful experience in facilitating the participation of SMEs in RTD activities. The project will directly foster the participation of 55 SMEs into FP6 instruments, with priority to IPs/NoE. The proj ect participants will carry out large awareness raising actions on FP6 opportunities for SMEs. On this basis, SMEs will be profiled by the project consultants and will be able to have access to a series of services including technological audits and screen ings of research plans, which aim to identify the excellent ones suitable to be integrated in particular, in ongoing or under construction IPs and NoE and other FP6 instruments (STREPs,SME-IPs ,ets).The excellent SMEs will receive coaching while being inte grated into IPs/NoE and assistance in the writing of project proposals. The methodology for these services will be defined and regularly updated with a view to matching the needs of IPs/NoE and needs of SMEs of the transport sector & related areas. An advisor role will be played by the Advisory Board, consisting of domain experts participating in the project and external advisors, which will represent a link between FASTER and the markets relevant to its activities and between FASTER and IPs and NoE ong oing or under construction. Finally, the project will ensure the dissemination of 10 success cases of SME proactive involvement in FP6 instruments. Results expected are for about 4000 SMEs to be informed about FP6 opportunities and the project services, ab out 1350 SMEs profiled, about 200 audited, about 110 receiving screening of their research plans. FASTER final goal will be the integration of 55 SMEs into the new instruments IPs/NoE and other (STREPs,SMEs-IPs)
