Obiettivo Current ECSC research work has revealed that some concepts of the liquid slag, solid shell and mould interactions need to be re-examined. This research project is aimed at defining these interactions as well as lubrication, flux flow and longitudinal marking. Investigation will be carried out into flux lubrication and infiltration, first shell formation, oscillation and liquid flux transfer. Mathematical models will be established for the molten flux flow.
