Objetivo The aim of this research project is to study the role of the inert gas injection technique and environment on submerged entry nozzles in an attempt to understand the mechanisms of nozzle blockage. It is hoped that this research will allow the industry to adopt new inert gas injection techniques which will both minimize the negative aspects of inert gas injection while improving liquid steel flow control in continuous casting.
