Objectif This project aims to enable strand surface temperatures in continuous casting to be predicted more accurately. In order to achieve this, extensive laboratory measurements of spray heat transfer coefficients together with plant measurements of strand temperatures must be carried out to feed mathematical models able to predict heat transfer in areas not directly sprayed, heat extraction by rolls and the effect of scale.
