Obiettivo BIOSIGNAL 2000 international Euroconference is a medium-sized scientific meeting giving a forum to top experts; young scientists and experienced researchers involved in biomedical engineering and related fields. Four general areas are covered: 1) Measurement and interpretation of physiologic signals, 2) Medical imaging and image analysis,3) Physiologic modelling and simulation, 4) Computer based clinical decision-making. These areas include most of the recent problems and problems of near future in biology and medicine: automated medical diagnosis via processing biological signals, graphic display of anatomic detail or physiologic function of man, modelling of living organism behaviour, and computer analysis of patient related data.BIOSIGNAL 2000 should bring new fresh ideas to the field through its central theme "BRIDGES TO BIOMEDICINE". The motivation of the organisers is to find hidden connections between engineering and other sciences (mathematics, chemistry, physics, etc.), make bridges for scientists of different fields, and exploit newly developed methodologies and techniques in biology and medicine. A special interest will be given to young scientists.Young scientists competition, Special forum for young scientists and a number of invited lectures done by top experts in the field will give an excellent opportunity to get information on cutting-edge research results and discuss their scientific problems. The conference will be located in the centre of Europe. The city of Brno in the Czech Republic has been selected as a traditional and important centre of biomedical engineering in Central and Eastern Europe. The conference should also give more information to public and arise common knowledge on biomedical engineering and stress its important role in medicine.
