Obiettivo The proposed series of summer schools is part of the establishment of a European Doctoral Programme in Knowledge and Management done by a number of leading European business schools and open to doctoral students in the area. The purpose of the programme is to provide advanced research training in an area of increasing importance to European business with a focus on understanding the concept of knowledge, management in a knowledge society, knowledge managers as a community of practice, the specific conditions for development, transfer and use of knowledge in society, and a focus on especially the type of firms that can be called knowledge-intensive. The doctoral programme will provide an intellectually stimulating environment which is epistemologically distinctive and characterised by multi-disciplinary, meaning an openness so different and complementary theoretical perspectives and research methodologies. The doctoral programme should make students able to deal with issues that are specifically European such as specific traits of the European business systems and the cultural diversity of the European scene of actors.
