Web site and DBs for the adoption of IPP by SMEs

Objective

The eLCA preparatory action demonstrated the Public Sector Information relevance and ICT/Web site potential to foster Integrated Product Policy (IPP) in SMEs, by addressing their specific barriers and promoting the gradual development of a green service market.

The eLCA project aimed to provide a practical one-stop-shop web site to address the difficulties that SMEs are likely to face when adopting IPP. The web site - http://www.ecosmes.net - provides information, tools and services to enable SMEs to develop and market "green products". It also intends to promote accompanying measures through the development of co-operation and agreements with public bodies and other key stakeholders.

http://www.ecosmes.net provides five kinds of services:
1. IPP concepts and instruments;
2. Training packages;
3. Specialised software tools and databases;
4. Technical guidelines for specific product chains;
5. General services.

http://www.ecosmes.net covers many sectors including wood products, metal working, textiles, electrical and electronic equipment, office use, urban furniture and hotels.
