Mobile information and new data services for 3G

Objectif

The MINDS project aimed at increasing the availability of mobile news content and improving opportunities for the localisation of mobile news content customised to highly specialised interests of target groups such as communities, business persons of certain branches or other individuals in Europe. These enhanced personalised mobile news services combined up-to-the-minute news with comprehensive background information already stored in the archives of news agencies and publishers. In the process of implementing these news offerings, the project team adjusted and optimised all steps along the value chain in order to design, produce, package, deliver and maintain mobile news content according to the current and forthcoming needs of mobile service users.

The MINDS team demonstrated that such news offerings would be ideally tailored to the interests of the target groups, featuring the most advanced multimedia technologies and being easily accessible via publishers and carriers. Since these services were meant to offer increased benefits regarding the information needs of European citizens, they increasingly stimulated the use of digital content in Europe, thus contributing to the evolution of the knowledge society across Europe.
