Objective NENA was a "Network of European News Agencies" which had united to develop an Internet service to provide information supporting the integration of the newly admitted EU countries.NENA addressed the current absence of a multilingual and multicultural daily news source covering national, regional and local issues of interest to socio-economic actors across the newly expanded EU. Expansion means new challenges and new opportunities. Integration and convergence can only take place when information flows freely and openly across the old borders, when business people, civil society and public agencies can stay informed about their counterparts and new opportunities for collaboration and exchange.Partners in the NENA project included leading news agencies as well as scientific institutions from both old and new EU Member States.
