Interoperability, security and safety of goods movement with 1435 and 1520(1524) mm track gauge railways: new technology in freight transport including hazardous products

Objetivo

The aim of the project is to develop freight movement technology INTERGAUGE, especially with regard to hazardous products, enabling the interoperable, safe and secure shipment between railways with different gauge widths.. Currently used technologies of ad justing rolling stock wheel sets to different track gauge widths in freight transport are very unsatisfactory. Such factors as environmental protection, difficulties in goods transport and a vast area necessary for the process, as well as the high cost of reloading equipment must considered. In case transport of hazardous materials such as: chemical materials, oil-derivatives and gases currently used technologies can be a threat to the environment. An original construction of gauge adjustable wheel set - SUW-2000 has been developed in Poland. It is be used in passenger wagons with an axle load of 200 kN/axle and velocity of 100 kph. The prototypes of freight bogie cars with gauge adjustable wheel set SUW-2000 II working at higher capacity (axle loads incre ased to 225 kN) and higher speed (120 kph) with lower tare weight ratio as well as prototype of an automatic new generation track gauge-changing station and transport management and operation of the stations situated at the changing points between 1435 mm and 1520(1524) mm railways are very important components of the new technology. INTERGAUGE - the new transport technology allows to limit the time required for the train to move through a border crossing with gauge-changing station as well as to minimize e nvironmental hazards. It is a new alternative in the supply of energy resources, increasing the energy safety of the European countries.
