Obiettivo Since the first discovery of conductive polymers made in summer of 1977 by Heeger, MacDiarmid and Shirakawa, a great deal of interest has focused on the developing of a technology based on all organic materials. Conventional plastic materials are, in fact, electrical insulators, but with the discovery of a remarkable class of polymeric semiconductors that can conduct electricity, a new era of plastic science and technology was opened. In this contest, the possibility of integrating different devices onto one substrate using a one production step, opens the way to the realization of large area arrays of photodetectors that can be used as large area radiation sensors for medical, pictures recognition and safety applications. The possibility of constructing the photodetectors on a flexible substrate, gives the possibility of having high resolution detection as the photosensor can conform to the surface of object or sources. The aim of this project is to investigate the feasibility of the realization of arrays of organic photodetectors on flexible substrate .To do that it is proposed both a technological and theoretical analysis of the problem. The first part of the project will be focused on the the use of different materials and configuration to reach high efficiency devices; secondly, the integration of these optical devices in arrays. In case of photodetector arrays, their realization on both polysilicon and organic flexible substrates will be investigated.
