Nouveaux medias, nouvelles solidarités : quelles représentations? Les médias religieux musulmans et les médias communautaires turcophones.

This project is in keeping with the general pattern of the candidate\'s research activities on notions of mobilisation, citizenship, representation and gender relations in the field of migration and media studies.

A return to France will allow her to complete research started in Britain and continued in Germany as part of a Marie Curie post-doctoral fellowship at the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations (University of Warwick). This study on ethnic and religious media intends to assess the changes of t he modes of transnational mobilisation and representation in various socio-political contexts, within the context of the popularisation of the new technologies of information and communications.

This multidisciplinary research concerns both sociology and political science. It will contribute to the study of social movements (modes of action and mobilisation) as well as the balances of power (modes of representation, stakes of transnational mobilisations). Social geography is also taken into consideration since territory, in so far as it is an instrument and an expression of the nation-state's authority, lies at the centre of national and international politics.

The professional reintegration of the candidate in France is essential for the comparative dimension of the research. This will be facilitated by the networks and contacts she has maintained and developed during her docoral and post-doctoral studies. The research centre Genre et rapports sociaux (GERS-IRESCO), to which the candidate is attach ed and that has also undertaken her reintegration process, is engaged in several projects on migration and gender studies.

Moreover, collaborations maintained by the candidate with several research centres (MIGRINTER in Poitiers, GREMMO in Lyon, APSE and CERI in Paris, CRER in Warwick, EMTEL in London, EMZ in Berlin) will facilitate the multidisciplinary character of this project.
