Boosting Regional Investments in RTD - Guiding Europe to Growth

Cel

In the BRIDGE2Growth project European regions are answering the call for delivering on EU RTD objectives and for meeting the challenges of the knowledge-driven economy head on. The knowledge-driven economy calls for investments in knowledge.
It calls for creation of regionally based innovation poles, where the diffusion and absorption of knowledge between all key stakeholders in the innovation system is mediated by a regional policy framework that facilitates and proactively encourages involvement and investment in RTD.
The mission of the BRIDGE2Growth project is to provide European regions with the knowledge needed to develop RTD policy frameworks that:
1) Mobilize and integrate regional RTD environments and stakeholders,
2) Build public-private partnerships facilitating investments and involvement in RTD,
3) Ultimately delivers growth and jobs to European citizens.
The aim of BRIDGE2Growth is to rise to the challenge of boosting private investments in research. The project will especially explore ways to promote SME involvement and investment in the RTD process and thereby mobilize the massive resources of the European SME community. The project will investigate three essential topics for building successful RTD policy frameworks:-The impact of clustering and net working on SME involvement and investment in RTD.-Sources of funding for SME RTD investments -Complementarities of regional and private investments in RTD.
Specifically the project will:
-Map the regional investment environments and identify the barriers for increased private investment
-Develop, adapt and validate policy guidelines, tools, templates and training schemes for regional authorities and policy-makers
-Package and disseminate policy guidelines, templates, tools and training schemes in the BRIDGE2Growth Handbook and ToolboxIn sum, the BRIDGE2Growth project is building a learning platform for regional RTD policies forming a stepping-stone on the way to European regions of knowledge.
