Objetivo The Laboratory of Magnetism from University of BiaBlystok (Poland) has started to change its scientific program from investigation of thin films (mainly garnets) to study of magnetic nanostructures - a highly innovative research filed with high potential f or future expansion in science and technology.NANOMAG-LAB-supported transformation of our research program will be focused on the development of experimental techniques connected with:- magnetooptical both milimagnetometry and micromagnetometry (based on optical microscopy) for wide range of magnetic field pulse amplitude, orientation, and duration; temperature, light wavelength, light path configuration (enabling magnetization vector position analysis),...- scanning probe microscopy, mainly AFM, MFM and STM. New theoretical approaches, supported by numerical simulations and verified by experiment, will be developed for deeper understanding of structural, magnetic (statics and dynamics of magnetization distribution), optical and magneto-optical properties of ultra-thin systems.Correlation between these properties and the structure of those nanosized objects on the level of atomic scale will be analysed. Digital image processing techniques will be developed for both magnetic and structural images. Planned ex-situ research will correlate to sample preparation and in-situ characterization.Nanostructured ferromagnets (mainly) with artificial three-dimensional patterning will be prepared in collaboration with different laboratories from Polish Network - Magnetism in low dimensional structures- and from NANOMAG-LAB partners.Transfer of knowledge of experimental techniques, which are not expected to be developed in BiaBlystok in the nearest future, is intended, especially related to sample growth and complex characterization methods:- in-situ: STM, AFM, LEED, RHEED, and- ex-situ: non-linear magneto-optics (e.g. SGH), Brillouen light scattering, synchrotron radiation techniques.
