The project proposal Research Your Mind (RYM) will be a festive event in the frame of Researcher's Night 2006. It consists of organising a surprising and entertaining Researcher's Night based on a game which will take place on the 22 September 2006 in the different partners' selected cities; Barcelona (Spain) and Katowice (Poland).
An awareness campaign will be addressed to attract the large public and especially young people, giving them the chance of getting closer to researchers and learn about research in an original, pleasant and attractive way. The RYM game will be an enjoyable pro-active competition to be played by participants with different profiles such as young people, scientists, politicians, journalists and businessmen, who will be divided into 3 teams.
A master of ceremony will read the questions and each team will have approximately 3 minutes to discuss and answer each question. Based on 200 question cards, each card will contain a science-related question with multiple-choice answers (4 possible answers) with a humoristic character. The solution will be at the back of the card, including additional information and the link to an interesting web page, where applicable.
The questions will be focused to improve public awareness of the importance of researcher's role in society and to increase the attractiveness of research career among students, covering the research areas of the 7th Framework Programme. The winner team will obtain invitations for museums, personalized tours to research laboratories and other activities related to science.
The audience will receive a game set to play at home. Afterwards, a live band with musicians from the research community will play and drinks and snacks will be provided, bringing the researchers closer to the large public. The RYM game is a sustainable tool to promote research and will remain after the event, permitting a wide dissemination at local and EU level. An online version will be created.
