Objective

There is a need for improved decision-making in the implementation of urban and regional transport schemes and to encourage 'better' schemes that achieve sustainable objectives and command public and political support.

GUIDEMAPS aims to provide a set of methods, analysis tools and practical decision-making guidelines, covering different kinds of transport schemes and all stages of the policy process. There is a wide range of schemes of interest (local, regional, modal and intermodal ) , from new LRT schemes , to traffic management and demand management . GUIDEMAPS aims to improve decision-taking skills, particularly in the public sector, by learning from Local Agenda 21 and the business sector.

GUIDEMAPS will stimulate closer public and other stakeholder group involvement in all stages of the transport scheme process, thereby improving decision-making and supporting more innovative solutions for sustainable transport.
