Objetivo The objective of the action is to assess the feasibility of the hypermedia technology and to devise needed extensions to it in order to support applications dealing with technical documentation management.The central action of this study is to analyse the requirements of real-life hypermedia technical documentation management applications (eg creation, maintenance, update, and delivery to end-users). The adequacy of currently available technology (such as optical storage) and industry standard hardware/software platforms (for example, multimedia/hypermedia WYSIWYG editors) will be evaluated against those requirements by sample demonstrations. the evaluation activity will identify needed extensions in terms of functionalities, performance, integration. In particular, the following aspects will be studied: - requirements of real applications, including their organisational and marketing aspects - logical models of hypermedia applications suitable for representing the complex entities needed for technical documentation - a user interaction model that considers the different user profiles in relation with their task in the application domain - the adequacy of the current technological infrastructure (in terms of hardware and software components) for supporting the overall application requirements. Results will include demonstrations of feasibility of the use of hypermedia technical documentation for all aspects above mentioned and suggestion of guidelines for further extensions of software platforms in order to overcome the limitations of currently available technology/tools as well as to identify a better blend of all the needed technologies into one robust and dependable support.
