Objectif The participation of 23 European experts (13 speakers, 10 additional experts) in the 6th International Symposium on the Biosafety of Genetically Modified Organisms (July 8-13, 2000; Saskatoon, Canada) is extremely important for the discussion and development of biosafety of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Europe and worldwide. This series of symposia discussing biosafety aspects of GMOs on a scientific basis is internationally unique.More than 400 participants (scientists, regulators, representatives of industrial companies) from the USA, Canada, Japan, China, several African countries, and most European countries will take part, representing experts who are working on the development of GMOs, have been conducting field trials with GMOs, are involved in the commercialization of GMOs, or are performing biosafety research and evaluation.
