Final Report - SQO-OSS (Software quality observatory for open source software)

Project ID: 033331
Funded under: FP6-IST

Open source software (OSS) is increasingly considered by SMEs as a viable alternative to proprietary software. As open source software makes inroads into the corporate world managers need to know how to discern between good and bad software.

The 'Software Quality Observatory for Open Source Software' (SQO-OSS) project takes a holistic approach to software assessment, using as many sources of quality indicators as possible. The aim is to create a way of determining the quality of software with the least human intervention possible.

This final activity report provides a brief overview of the work carried by the SQO-OSS project. The consortium's main goal has been to build a web site of quality assessed open source software. The project also delivered novel quality assessment tools that combine data from various project data sources.
