Periodic Report - BROWN DWARF (Brown dwarfs and extrasolar planets)

Project ID: 200297
Funded under: FP7-PEOPLE

The main objectives of the BROWN DWARF project were:
- the observations of brown dwarfs and extrasolar planets;
- the analysis of data;
- the study of constraints on planet properties;
- the study of theory and nature of the variability of brown dwarfs;
- the theoretical modelling of extrasolar planets;
- the development of Shellspec code.

Amongst the main achievements achieved were the observation of the cooling of an irradiated planet from both its day and night side, as well as the application of the Shellspec code to extrasolar planets. The variability of brown dwarfs and low mass stars was studied, as well. The results showed that sudden drop in the brightness of stars was not observed.
