Numerous industrial processes involve permeation of molecules of various sizes through nanostructured materials. Typical examples are the separation of fluid and gaseous mixtures, medical packaging and drug delivery systems.

The MULTIMATDSIGN project has made key contributions towards the knowledge-based design of nanostructured materials combining high permeability with mechanical stability and biocompatibility.

This final report of the MULTIMATDSIGN project provides a brief overview of the efforts of software developers and users to employ advanced computational tools for modelling multi-functional polymeric materials, such as Monte Carlo simulations and force field-based molecular mechanics.
