Final Report - MUGIL (Main Uses of the Grey mullet as Indicator of Littoral environmental changes)

Project ID: 26180
Funded under: FP6-INCO

Ecosystems in coastal areas are of major importance because of their significant biodiversity; however, the applied pressure due to human activities and climate change results in their degradation. The selection of appropriate environmental indicators is necessary to achieve integrated management and facilitate their restoration.

The EU-funded MUGIL project proposed the mugil cephalus species as an environmental indicator and, under this context, established a global network to organise existing information and define future research actions for estuaries' protection.

This final activity report summarises the project objectives and major achievements. It also refers to the thematic priorities and outcomes of the organised seminars and workshops. Finally, management and dissemination activities are highlighted and a detailed presentation of the events' agendas is provided.
