Final Report - CAPRI (Establishment of high-throughput monoclonal antibody production and hybridoma bank)

Project ID: 26278
Funded under: FP6-INCO

The basic technology for protein expression and high-throughput mAb production at the Centre for Proteomics was organised and supported with Max von-Pettenkofer-Institut, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), and Medical Faculty University of Mostar, as partners. The focus of this project has been on the generation of mAbs against the entire proteome of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), which consists of 69 distinct proteins.

The report highlights that up to now, mAbs have been generated to the vast majority of the VZV proteins. The data are going to be published and made available to the scientific community. It also notes that for the vast majority of VZV proteins, the CAPRI team managed to generate sufficient quantity and purity for immunisation and screening. For each of them fusions were performed in order to generate hybridoma cell lines which were subsequently cloned.
