Project ID: 3697
Funded under: FP6-INCO

Rapid urbanisation of Southeast Asia coastal zones, along with poor understanding of the local mangrove ecosystems resulted in rapid deterioration of the natural environment. Nevertheless, mangroves were important for aquaculture and food production while they supported livelihood of poor population.

the EU-funded MANGROVE project aimed to address the lack of knowledge about mangrove ecosystems status, use and requirements for sustainable management, so as to facilitate ecosystems' rehabilitation, future development and reconciliation of overlapping uses.

This final activity report provides an overview of the project objectives, the undertaken activities and the generated results. Moreover, the document refers to the project contribution to knowledge enhancement and closes with proposals for further use and potential impacts of its scientific outcomes.
