Final Report - ITARI (Integrated Tyre and Road Interaction)

Project ID: 506437
Funded under: FP6-SUSTDEV

This is the publishable report for the last period of the ITARI project, which aimed to provide the necessary design, test and measurement tools to investigate new road surfaces, which might lead to lower noise emission and lower fuel consumption and at the same time meeting safety requirements.

The report begins with a summary of the project's background in road and pavement design issues concerning safety and noise pollution and then explains the objectives related to the challenges of today. It later analyses the concept for the main technological objectives and how they were planned to be addressed. Finally, there is a section referring to the state of the art as well as the project's achievements in various areas of interest, such as tyre / noise generation, tyre / road friction simulation and prediction, rolling resistance and innovative road surfaces.
