Biological organisms achieve rapid and efficient transmission of information via the active propagation of electrochemical signals. Nevertheless, the complex structures and intricate feedback of biological neurons significantly complicate the understanding of this process.

The EU-funded ARTIFICIAL NEURON project aimed to develop a minimal neuron model in which the active propagation of electrochemical signals could be readily studied.

This final activity report contains a brief overview of the project objectives. It then refers to the obtained results, which include the development of a series of innovative techniques. The document also provides explanatory diagrams and figures and closes with a list of the publications that were produced as part of the numerous project dissemination activities.
