Final Report - INTRABASIS (Development and application of an individual-trait-based simulator of Amazon forest dynamics)

The Amazon forest represents one of the largest forested areas globally. However, its basin is under strong human pressure and faces a warming climate and a changing atmospheric environment. Understanding the biodiversity and carbon cycle processes of the Amazon forest and projecting its dynamics under different scenarios is both an important and challenging task.

Therefore, the EU-funded INTRABASIS project aimed to develop a model of vegetation dynamics able to simulate the inherent heterogeneity within Amazonian rain forests.

This final report summarises the project objectives and presents the implemented modelling approach. In addition, it provides information on the model's validation and refers to the simulations' results. The document closes with a brief overview of the future model optimisation activities.
