Final Report - COCON (Coated Conductor by economic processsing route)

Project ID: 508273
Funded under: FP6-SME

This is the final activity report of the COCON project, aimed at the creation of a new and more economic production technology for coated conductors. This document gives an overview on the whole duration of the project. In contrary to the periodical reports where the research and development (R&D) activities were ordered according to the several work packages (WPs) and partners, this final report gives consideration to the sequence of the final product, which was the result of excellent interchange and cooperation between all partners of the consortium.

To reach the ambitious aim to prepare superconducting yttrium-barium-copper-oxide (YBCO) tapes, every single step starting from the substrate selection and development, the buffer architecture and composition selection, the buffer precursor syntheses, film deposition, its heat treatment and evaluation, was just a piece of the whole success.

All those steps are clearly documented as were all details of the proper superconducting YBCO film which includes again precursor design, syntheses and stability, printing and dipping as coating methods, two-dimensional structured deposition and final characterisation.
