This is the final report for the FLYHY project which received funding under the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). FLYHY focused on tailoring of materials thermodynamics and kinetics by anion substitution in high-capacity hydrogen storage materials, on employing novel paths of materials synthesis, on obtaining in-depth scientific understanding by extended structural and thermodynamic characterisation and modelling, on determining tank relevant materials properties like compaction behaviour and thermal conductivity, as well as on scaling-up materials synthesis and testing a prototype solid state hydrogen storage tank.

The report begins with a summary description of the project objectives. The materials selected to fulfil the objectives were alane, borohydrides and reactive hydride composites. The report concludes with the main scientific and technological results achieved in the four work packages.
