Final Report - PANTOTRAIN (Pantograph and catenary interaction total regulatory acceptance for the interoperable network)

Project ID: 234015
Funded under: FP7-TRANSPORT

The use of different overhead equipment across European nations, and hence the different requirements placed on pantograph systems, represents one of the major barriers to rolling stock interoperability.

The PANTOTRAIN project, which was funded by the European Commission (EC), aimed to remove this barrier by considering the use of innovative instruments to simplify the trans-national homologation and cross-border service of pantographs, as well as by assessing the impact on interoperability of innovative pantograph designs.

This final activity report provides an overview of the project context and objectives and then focuses on the undertaken activities and presents the implemented methodology and the research findings. It also refers to the project's potential impact and to the implemented knowledge dissemination actions.
